Brought Forward

Convert a Halifax statement PDF to Excel or CSV

Drop the Halifax statement PDF below. Brought Forward reads it on your computer, checks every row against the running balance, and downloads a CSV for Excel or a file for Xero, QuickBooks, FreeAgent, OFX or QIF. Nothing is uploaded.

Built from the published layout, not yet tested on a real statement. Halifax is part of Lloyds Banking Group and uses the same statement layout, which is tested on real Lloyds statements; Halifax’s own PDFs haven’t been tested yet. The balance check shows straight away whether yours read correctly, and if it didn’t, the one-click report (bank name only) tells us to look.

Getting the PDF from Halifax

In Halifax online banking, open the account and choose Statements to download a PDF. Save it somewhere you can find it, then drop it into the box above or choose it with the button.

How Brought Forward reads a Halifax statement

  • Same layout as Lloyds: Date, Description, Type, Money In (£), Money Out (£), Balance (£).
  • Every row is checked against the printed balance.

Into your accounts

  • Xero: download the Xero CSV (or OFX) and import it as a bank statement.
  • QuickBooks: download the QuickBooks CSV and upload it from Banking.
  • FreeAgent: download the FreeAgent CSV and upload it as a statement.
  • Excel: the CSV opens directly, with money in, money out, balance and the check result in columns.

Questions

Is my Halifax statement uploaded anywhere?
No. It’s read by your browser on your computer. The page is allowed to talk only to the licence server and a cookie-free page counter, and neither receives anything from your statement.
What if a row doesn’t agree with the balance?
It’s flagged in red with a cross, and marked in the CSV. Check it against the PDF: usually a page is missing from the file or a figure was misread. The report button tells us the bank (and nothing else) so the layout can be fixed.
How much does it cost?
Three statements a day are free. Pro is £8 a month or £69 a year for as many as you like.
